The Whitening Process
How it Works
Along with your custom-fitted whitening tray, we provide you with professional-grade whitening agents. The solution uses a peroxide to bleach away surface stains and restore the natural color of your enamel. Peroxides have volatile oxygen molecules that react violently when they contact stains, essentially “bleaching” them away and leaving your teeth bright, white and beautiful.

Dental bonding is a process that uses a special dental resin to reshape one or more of your teeth. Shaping & contouring is often used alongside bonding. It involves removing a thin layer of enamel from the surrounding teeth to create a more even, pleasing smile. By removing a small amount of enamel, the teeth can be reshaped to adjust your appearance, and enhance the effects of bonding.

Veneers
Veneers are usually made of ceramic porcelain materials, and are designed to fit over your natural teeth and cover up the front chewing surfaces. They are durable and long-lasting and can be used to treat almost any cosmetic flaw in your smile.
It usually takes 2 appointments over a period of 2-3 weeks to have veneers placed. First, Dr. Messenger will prepare your teeth by removing a thin layer of enamel from each tooth that is receiving a veneer. This is done to ensure that your veneers fit seamlessly and look completely natural. Then, she will take impressions of your smile and send them to a dental lab, where your veneers will be custom made.
You will be sent home with a set of temporary veneers. When your permanent veneers arrive at our office, Dr. Messenger will check to ensure that they fit properly and feel natural in your mouth. Then, your veneers will be bonded to your teeth permanently, completing your treatment.
